What degree do I need to apply? Must my undergraduate work be in economics?
An applicant only needs an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university from around the world. It is not essential that the bachelor’s degree be in inter religion study, but some preparation in undergraduate inter religion is a necessity.
Is there a minimum TOEFL score requirement?
For the TOEFL, the Faculty’s minimum requirement is 527 from Universitas Gadjah Mada or other official language centers. Applicants with scores above 500 may be considered. If a student is accepted with a TOEFL of less than 527, they must take intensive English classes and may not take their Comprehensive Examinations before achieving a TOEFL score of at least 527.

When do my TOEFL scores expire?
Your TOEFL score will be considered expired if the test was taken more than two years prior to the application deadline. The TOEFL scores are valid for two years.

Is the TOEFL score is required for all applicants?
No. Native English speakers and those who are considered as “Native English Speakers" are not required to submit TOEFL scores.  However, they are encouraged (not required) to submit recent scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or a similar standardized test from their native country.

How is the screening procedure like?
The Admissions Committee will screen all application mainly based on submitted material. In some cases we will conduct interview to the applicants.

When can I expect to be notified about an admission decision?
All applicants will be notified of whether or not they are accepted, by the end of July. Candidates have one week to notify the ICRS of their decisions. Successful applicants should sign a statement that they will be full-time students in residence at ICRS for at least the first two years, or until they complete their language requirements and Comprehensive Examinations.

Can an applicant who was not accepted into the program request information as to why they were not accepted?
Due to the large volume of qualified applicants to the International Graduate Program in Inter-religious Study and the small number of students accepted, we are unable to give specifics as to why an application was denied.
