ICRS is currently running a three-year collaborative research program on “Religion, Public Policy and Social Transformation in Southeast Asia” with the support of The Henry Luce Foundation. The Program serves as a platform for direct intellectual engagement between the US and Southeast Asian countries, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar. ICRS is now looking for a Research Assistant who will be appointed to help the ICRS-Luce Collaborative Research on Year 2 theme, i.e. Religion, Identity, and Gender. The selected Research Assistant will work with the Principal Investigator and the Indonesia Research Team for one-year tenure with competitive salary and possible extension. 


  • Assist Principal Investigator and, if necessary, Researchers to undertake research activities
  • Able to fulfill research targets and objectives
  • Able to work independently and under pressure with minimum supervision


  • A Ph.D. student or Advance M.A. student in social sciences, religious studies, theology and other relevant disciplines
  • Proven track record of collective research undertakings
  • English proficiency and computer literacy
  • Superb writing skills and great attention to details
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to deal with administrative matters and to work in a team
