The sequence event of Merapi eruption in October-November 2010 has emerged new awareness of various things. The magnitude of the event and its massive effect towards every sector of life, the great numbers of victims with various stories surround them are the essential "source of learning" to gain knowledge of. A lot of parties; government bodies, mass organizations, political parties, civil society, funding agency from both national and international scale have actively involved in giving aid to the victims.

The sequence event of Merapi eruption in October-November 2010 has emerged new awareness of various things. The magnitude of the event and its massive effect towards every sector of life, the great numbers of victims with various stories surround them are the essential "source of learning" to gain knowledge of. A lot of parties; government bodies, mass organizations, political parties, civil society, funding agency from both national and international scale have actively involved in giving aid to the victims. The type of the aid is also diverse. However, are the models, methods, and the approach of effective service have met the expectation? This research will specifically analyze the models of participation and the types of aid given by several faith-based civil societies. The expected outcome of this baseline research on the models of participation, service and faith-based civil society aid program is alternative Best Practices upon the service for the disaster victims which can be used as guidelines, school syllabus, and disaster management training. Th research data is obtained through several techniques, such as documentation method, interview and focused group discussion, and direct observation at the location.
