Ramadhan Month is an essential time for Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS) to strengthen the bond of all ICRS’ families, by hosting an Iftar and Talkshow at the Food and Spirituality event last week (8/06). The feast was held at UGM graduate school, with speakers from various religious backgrounds enliven the event by presenting their experiences about fasting tradition in their community. Dr. Al Makin (Muslim), Prof. Banawaritma (Catholic), Mike Quinland (Protestant) and also Hasto Bramantyo (Buddhist) shared their idea on fasting, based on their religious background. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Suryo Purwono, the vice director of UGM Graduate School.

As a part of ICRS 10th anniversary celebration, this event endeavors to engage with many people. Consortium Vocal Group (Collaboration of student choir from UGM, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and UKDW), ICRS international students, and CRCS UGM families were involved in this event and together enliven the Iftar. Dr. Siti Syamsiyatun (ICRS Director) said in her opening remarks “Thank you for coming to this Iftar and this evening we are here only see all happy faces. Hopefully this activity could always make us being together as family and could bring a positive contribution to all our cooperation.
